We Won “Inspiring Workplaces of The Year” at HRedge Summit & Awards 2024

We are super proud to win the very first edition of the prestigious Mercer Mettl and ET HRedge “Inspiring Workplaces of the Year Award 2024”!

KGiSL Educational Institutions, established in 2000, is a leader in industry-integrated education in South India. Accordingly, KGiSL MicroCollege, a dedicated vertical for skilling, has been helping students overcome the gap between industry and academia. The MicroCollege offers a range of professional certification programs in IT and non-IT fields to help young graduates get their careers off to a bright start. Over the past 2 years, these programs have helped thousands of students start their careers with over 350 MNCs and startups across India.

Out of 750+ companies participating from across India, the KG Group’s Educational Institutions have been recognized as the top organization to have “created an exceptional work environment that inspires and motivates its employees”. The Institutions competed alongside prominent names like Simpl and Chargeback Gurus who were named runner-ups.

The awards, presented by the global talent acquisition and development giant, Mercer | Mettl and India’s leading business daily, The Economic Times’ ETHRWorld is “an initiative to recognize forward-thinking organizations and individuals who are leading the way by designing innovative strategies to update the skills matrix of their people and shape their work design for success”. The event, hosted at The Leela in Gurugram, brought together CEOs, policymakers, HR professionals, talent development experts, and other leading business leaders. 

The award panel featured some of the most renowned thought leaders and HR gurus across the globe. Some of the illustrious jury members include Lakshmanan M (L&T Technology Services), Madhvi Pahwa (GroupM), Sasmita Mohanty (Bolloré Logistics), Padma Gupta (Hafele India Pvt. Ltd), Pooja Minocha (Bata India Ltd), Prasanth Nair (Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd), Prashant Khullar (Ecom Express Ltd), Richard Lobo (Tech Mahindra), Ruchira Bhardwaja (Kotak Life), Santanu Ghoshal (Schaeffler India Ltd), Sarma Chillara (Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. This prestigious recognition is a testament to decades-old KGiSL Educational Institutions’ unwavering dedication to promoting employee well-being and their professional growth. 

Throughout this last year, several dynamic programs were implemented to cultivate an employee-centric workplace

  • LEAP (Leadership Excellence Accelerator Program) is an initiative to help KGiSL MicroCollege employees in managerial roles understand, communicate, and coordinate better with other departments and to nurture leadership qualities among the staff. 
  • The KGiSL MicroCollege management is actively identifying and developing ‘micro-leaders’ across the levels. This encourages the younger members to take on more challenges and grow in their careers. 
  • The organizational structure is being reimagined as a flatarchy, leading to decentralized decision-making and the discovery of hidden talents and breakthrough ideas, several of which have materialized as successful business ventures like the KG Talent Acquisition Group and KG Genius Labs. 
  • As a leader in industry-relevant education, The KGiSL Educational Institutions have been fostering an innovation ecosystem for the benefit of our students and employees:
    • The recently inaugurated Future Mobility Technology Centre, in association with the global tech consultant, Thoughtworks is a hub providing experiential learning opportunities in advanced automotive technologies, especially Software Defined vehicle tech. 
    • The Innovation Labs initiative is built on a cascade model of training, meaning it is helping instructors build expertise in cutting-edge technologies like embedded systems, web 3.0, cybersecurity, and DevOps, directly from industry leaders.
    • The KGiSL Institution Innovation Council has been rated with 4 stars by the Indian Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell. The Council’s numerous hackathons, ideation sessions, proof-of-concept development, and other projects have exposed employees to cutting-edge ideas and they are now tapping into their innovative side. 
    • The Educational Institutions’ R&D policy of providing the necessary seed money and infrastructure to our promising employees has led to several interesting projects seeing light like AI-based approach to fake news detection, and IoT-based disease prediction system. 
  • The KGiSL Educational Institutions’ administration has expanded the scope of its many awards to recognize not only our employees and students but also all inspiring individuals of the society. For instance, some of the shining personalities celebrated at the 5th edition of the annual Divyalakshmi Life Transformation Awards 2024 include Dr. Tessy Thomas (Former Project Director of Agni Project, DRDO), and Ms Reshma Nilofer Visalakshi (India’s first and only female marine pilot). The 2024 edition of the KGiSL Educational Institutions Meritorious School Awards felicitated over 1,200 school students and more than 300 educators. The 2024 edition of Varnabandham, the annual art festival, saw the participation of 60+ artists, including international artists from Russia.
  • Another trait that makes the KGiSL workplace inspiring is the shared joy of giving. At the recent Kindathon, hundreds of students and employees joined hands to give back to society. Some of their notable contributions include all detection machines, smart walking sticks, BP monitors, and even lifesaving blood. 

This recognition as the inaugural recipient of the Inspiring Workplaces of the year 2024 recognition adds to KGiSL Educational Institutions’ growing list of achievements which also include the Great Place to Work tag for two years consequently.
